What to tell the young generationabout «The Roman Empire»
of the 20th century, the Union of the Socialist Soviet Republics
(USSR), a gigantic country that constituted about a sixth of the
earth land and stretched from the Pacific Ocean to the Baltic Sea,
from the North Pole to the deserts of the Middle East. Theborder
of the USSR run for more than 37290 miles crossing 12 seas and a
lot of high mountains and deserts including Siberia with the world
biggest forest – the Taiga.
The USSR had 11 time zones which meant when people in the Far East
were going to work the Muscovites were going to bed. No other country
of the world includes so many climate zones stretching from the
Arctic to the subtropical regions. The temperature at the island
New Land reaches 92,2 °F and in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) +122
°F, with a temperature difference about 214 degrees!
The citizens of this union with 15 republics and 20 autonomous regions
spoke more than 100 languages. This country united people of completely
different cultural and religious traditions, existed for almost
70 years. This incredible unity resulted in knowledge and cultural
sharing among the people which is reflected in the characters and
designs of «CCCP» watches.
